Everything I build was real -unfortunately....

« on: February 12, 2010, 09:28:09 AM »

As I reach the end stretch of building my current model I am faced with the eternal problem of uniting the removable bodywork with the chassis... My normal method is the build everything onto a circuit board and screw that to the roof. But, in the EE-1 this is not possible. SO I am left with a plethera of cables and connectors all of which have to be ratified and united into a simple (messy) whole....

I have cribbed badly from my professional background and it has been said that my wiring is more computer than model(!)

Here are the connectors and colour codings that I have been using for my "standards"

Black  Negative DC
Red    Positive DC
Yellow & Blue DC of opposing but variable polarity

Green 0 Volts
Orange 5 Volts TTL Power
Pink TTL High
Purple TTL Low

White Data stream (R/C, PIC etc)

Black/Yellow trace AC phase 1
Blue/Yellow trace AC phase 2
Brown/Yellow trace AC phase 3
Grey/Yellow trace AC phase 4
Green/Yellow trace EARTH

I normally use Lucar spades and bullets for my "power" systems and small bunches of low power voltage cables will be connected via 25 pin and 9 pin serial connectors. Wherever possible I twist cables to prevent inductive noise...

regards
